A Person in Need

A Person in Need in Psalm 23

The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. (Verse 1)

Because the Lord is in my life, I have all I need. When I crave time to rest, God shows me a quiet place. He gives me strength to recharge my mind and muscles. God is the leader; I’m the follower. It is refreshing at times, when I don’t have the energy to make a decision, never mind the motivation to think it through.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. (Verse 5)

When there are times I don’t think I can do a task, He provides the help and the job gets done. I can be facing a life-defying challenge, on the brink of death, and no fear will be found in me. It is refreshing to bask in His presence, as His child. I don’t have to prove anything, or be what I am expected to be.

My identity is protected. God is guiding me, how can I fail? His way is foolproof, He provides me with blessings. When my enemies confront me, I have Godly favor. It may sound too good to be true, but it’s not. God’s love and care are genuine. This kindness and goodness of God’s love never stop.

Without God, we'd have no movement, no breath, no life. Acts 17:28 goes on to say: "For in him, we live and move and have our being. As some of your own poets have said, 'We are his offspring.'" God isn’t far from anyone’s grasp. That is what God seeks - people to have a connection with Him.

Are there any needs that seem impossible for God to meet? What is keeping you from believing?

Lord, I will not open the door to worry. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
